This lighting, color options and software is prefect for all the gaming I will ever do. This is by far the best gaming keyboard I have ever owned. Everything about this keyboard is adjustable. I plan to buy another just to have as a back-up just in case. Bottonline: This is just an all around great KB.
The keyboard is backlit and has 3 brightness and color settings (red, blue and purple: purple has been my fav for gaming in the dark). The Merc stealth is in my oppinion the best gaming console out there. First was the built in gaming pad, second was the backlit keyboard. The Gamepad is programable to your favorite video games, many templates can be found already on the company website or on the installation cd, plus you can share your own configuration with others. Also as mentioned befor anyone who is acustomed to using the Fang will find some of the thumb buttons are a little awkward, but if this is your first experience with the Ideazon products should find no issue with this.Final:The ability to game without having my lights on, a gamepad built in and have my mous and headphones jacked in to one device for greater freedom of movement is worth its weight in gold as far as Im concerned. Now I already owned the Ideazon Fang gamepad and I had nothing but love for how it enhanced my gameplay, so when I found out that there was a kepboard with the gamepad built in I was estatic.
Also the Merc has 2 usb ports (which is nice) and a headphone/microphone jack (which is awesome). For me there were two main insentives for buying this device. The connections (its a wired keyboard) are gold plating as you might expect of an gaming hardware for speed and response. The pros: The buit in gamepad is ergonomically designed and fits the hand well. For those used to the Fang there are a few adjustments to make but not overly so. Lastly the price point is good for a gaming keyboard. The Cons:The keypad is on the small side and will take a bit of getting used to if youve been using a larger keyboard like me.
I cant recomend this product enough.
You just select the game and jump in. I bought this keyboard to play games easier. Even better, it has a setting to detect the game and it switches the controls automatically. It definitely does that. The software comes with a HUGE number of presets. The only downsides to this otherwise awesome keyboard is the fact that in order to use the following keys:(Find, Home, PgUp, My Comp, Ins, End, PgDn, Show Desk, Del, Cut, Copy, Paste), you have to turn off numlock and the arrow keys are in a weird spot. I'd highly recommend it to any gamers looking for a new keyboard.
The Number Pad and the 'Insert,' 'Delete,' Page Up and Down keys are merged together, so to use one you must push the Num Lock key first then press it again to use the other. I bought the keyboard for the fully customizable keys to help in my playing of IL-2 1946. I am not Role-Player and only occasionally play FPS games. I had not noticed this fact until after buying this product nine months ago. It has but it could have been so much better. The gaming keypad to the left of the keyboard are great, Idealzon did an excellent job of trying to make the keys fit all hands, (personally, I wish the #3 key was a bit more to the right or the #4 key was a bit more to the left, but that is a minor point), and for designing it for a massive group of different people, they did a good job.The fully customizable keys is fantastic and I have barely set touched upon the uses available due to this feature. The back light is excellent, it even helps to see during the dayMy only dislike for this keyboard (and it is what makes it four stars instead of five stars in my book) is that the normal keyboard is not a standard 104 keyboard setting. If I had, I might not have bought it. I am not a great typist, so having the unique setting of the right side of a 104 keyboard makes it easier to find keys in the section. However, the keyboard has shown that it has great use and I have used it for non-gaming programs such as Photoshop and Blender by have my most used actions programed into the gaming pad.
I have owned a total of 4 Ideazon keyboards, all with this layout. I've actually tried spill resistant keyboards, and they don't seem to be all that resistant anyway.- From time to time when my son starts banging away on the keyboard, it will drop it's active profile and the software will refuse to load, forcing me to restart the computer. Not really a con either.- Here's the only real complaint I have with Ideazon, it's hard to find these keyboards, I don't like waiting on shipping time, and Best Buy and Fry's seem to sell out of them almost as soon as they receive them. Taking them apart and cleaning sometimes works, but not always.Pro's- I love the left side layout, lots of key's to quickbind besides the movement ones, and using the software that comes with them (also available online) you can macro the keys to whatever you want. I know people that would have bought this keyboard if they could find it, but instead end up buying a Logitech or something else since the Zboards are always sold out.I would heartily recommend Ideazon keyboards to anyone, I've tried almost every product out there, Nostromo's etc. It's quick and easy, and the software comes preset with many different macro's for many different games. I tend to buy whichever style of Zboard I can get the quickest, as gaming with a normal keyboard is a terrible experience after owning one of these keyboards.I've been through 4 of them due to various spills, I usually have a soda on my desk and inevitably knock it over soaking the keyboard. Restarting always works, and it has never dropped the profile during normal use or gaming, only when my son (2) spends 10 minutes banging on it.
- The USB and Headset ports on the keyboard are nice, I don't have to pull out my tower every time I want to connect something.- Variable intensity on the keyboard lights, and the simple fact that they keyboard is lighted is very useful when you don't want to keep the room lights on.Con's- These aren't really con's, but I wish they were more spill resistant. They aren't really made to be, and I can't complain about something I cause myself. I would really like to see more of them available. and nothing works as well for gaming in my humble opinion.
